The Middle Part

Rachel Zoe is one of the few women who can get away with her hair parted in the middle.

Well, Whitney rocks it.

and so does Jessica.

Are there any other celebs who rock a middle part? Do you rock a middle part?

Personally it's not a look I can pull off (oh to be blessed with a round-ish oval face), so I'm super envious of the ladies who can pull it off!

Freck's Friday Fancies LXI

Happy Friday everyone!! I'm cutting straight to the Fancies today because I'm so excited about them!

Today's Fancies are created by Myra Callan, the owner of Twigs and Honey. Not only is Myra one darling gal, she is an extremely talented designer who creates gorgeous, to-die-for hair pieces and accessories.

She recently rolled out her new online store, and here's a preview (and today's Fancies!).

Let's throw in some fun accessories, too... :)

If I someday decide to wear a hair accessory on my big day, Twigs & Honey will be my first stop.

View all of her gorgeous pieces at Twigs and Honey or visit her adorable blog here! :)

Have a wonderful weekend!

What Not To Hair

I friggen love this show.

A lot.

They perform MIRACLES. I even have Stacy and Clinton's InStyle book and got Clinton's book for one of my sister in laws because hellooo we could all use a makeover every now and then. Am I right, or am I right?!

Kidding, she didn't need one, I just really liked the book.

Anyway, let's talk about Nick Arrojo's hair. Listen I'm no hair pro, but I mean..sometimes its on...

Rock it, do it to it Nick.

Sometimes it's WHAT THE?!

Know what I'm sayin?

Yowza Nick.

Shoutout to my male audience (aka Tommy), I'd love to hear what you think about his herr!

TBF, don't read this.

TBF turn away.

I know how much you love long hair.

I came across this yesterday and I can't get them out of my mind. My stomach immediately knots up a bit when I look at them (or maybe it's the fact that I'm at home with a stomach bug today), going back to shorter hair is so tempting!

How bad do these pictures make you want to cut your hair?! I've been growing my hair out for a good two years now and it's just now getting to mid shoulder-blade area.

I love having long hair, it's so easy to maintain and throw back in a bun/pony if I'm short on time.

This is the actual picture that convinced me to get a bob a couple of years ago!

...but I really loved having my hair short (and blonde), too!

Anyone else tempted to cut their hair now?? The bob is just so cute!

Weekend Recap + Some TLC

Late Monday post. Back to work. Back to reality.

My weekend was SUPER lazy and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Work’s been rough so I needed some TLC which included zoning out to football with TBF and reading magazines. This month’s Real Simple? Pretty darn good.

I always enjoy the skin and hair care articles. Even though I never actually try the diy face masks or hair care treatments, they make me say to myself, “Hey Freck, go slap on a mask, you aren’t very good to your skin”

It’s true.

I use a drugstore clay mask that works well. Once I put that baby on I usually put on some Crest White Strips and that’s as far as I go (unless my brows are unruly and I'll attack those, too).

Tonight I’ll be gymming it up and watching Chuck and Castle. Anyone see Castle in this month’s cosmo?

Lookin' good my friend, lookin' good.

Hope you had a great weekend!

The Poof : : A Lesson With Freck

The Progressive woman's poof bothers me. Does it bother anyone else? As a show choir alum, I know a thing or two (or a million) about poofs and hair in general.

Let me tell you how to do a great poof (WITHOUT a silly bump-it!). Pull up a chair and listen, you'll be the queen of a cute poof (nothin' crazy) in a couple easy steps like exhibit A..

Queen of the tasteful poof. Doesn't she have the most amazing hair?!

Tools:

and small hair bands similar to this - make sure to get the kind that won't hurt your hair!

OR

1. Make sure your hair is a day old so it's moldable. This may sound gross, but the baby powder or dry shampoo will take away the grease, add volume and make your hair more maneuverable. Trying to tease and mold freshly shampoo just doesn't work as well.

2. Using the teasing comb, start teasing (combing toward your scalp making your hair ratty) sections of your hair all around your head, don't forget the sides! Work in small sections, it really doesn't take long. You literally want your hair to look like you put your finger in a light socket when your finished.
Don't worry, a little conditioner in the shower will bring the rats right out!

3. Using the boar bristle brush, start smoothing over the top layer of hair over the rats. I like the bristle brush because the bristles don't reach the rats (which will comb out your beautiful teasing job), you won't lose the volume and the top section of your hair will look smooth and shiny. It won't take much pressure to smooth down that top layer of hair.

4. Once your top section is smooth, (this is when you'd want to insert a headband if you prefer) gather your hair into a low pony tail and continue smoothing down and making sure the poof is symmetrical. Feel free to swoop the front and leave some wispy pieces around your face. Bobby pins may be necessary :)

5. Once your hair is in the pony tail hair band, you can go back in with the other side of the teasing come to pull your hair out if you see some unsymmetrical sections or if you simply want the poof bigger!

6. Feel free to use a shiny hair spray or just hair spray to keep the poof in place.

Voila!!! See? You don't need a bump it!

Now you can use the poof with other hairstyles like...

the side pony

half up, half down

the bun

and a classy side bun

Good luck and feel free to email me if you have any questions!

Happy Tuesday!!

Getcha Hair Did

Last night was spent in mourning because I did not get the tickets. Long story short, TBF got the original tickets that were from Ticketmaster through Stubhub so we don't have legal rights to the password to get the presale tickets. The original ticket holder does. So what did I do last night? Mourned. Mourned because I was so excited to go to the concert, and now I am not going. I'm still mourning.

Fortunately I have some coworkers who used to work for LiveNation and Ticketmaster who can hopefully pull some strings. Think positive thoughts for me :)

Luckily, I have these adorable Etsy hair accessories that can be worn with a cute black dress on NYE to distract me.

Etsy, $15

Etsy, $25

This one may be too casual, but it's cute. Etsy, $20

Beading! Etsy, $25

Etsy, $24

Happy hump day!!

Ladies, You're Fab, Keep it Up!

Alright, there are some female celebrities out there who I'm simply digging lately for different reasons.

Of course there's Madonna, Michelle Obama, Oprah, Jen Aniston, Audrey Hepburn and the list goes on but I wanted to keep it to those who aren't or maybe won't be on the list every darn year, ya know? Spice it up a little!

Also, part of the reason why I want to make this list is because I want to look back in a year and see who I picked and probably laugh.

Here are my picks for the most fabulous celebrity ladies of 2009:

Lady gaga. She waves something that she likes to call her Freak Flag. Love it.

Zooey Deschanel. Amazing eyes, down to earth, classic, simply adorable.

Reese Witherspoon. She has my ideal blonde haircut that looks perfect all the time. Plus she's a pretty classy lady, yes?

Nicole Richie. Ok ok I know, but I really dig her brunette hair. Again, ideal. Also, she's come a long way, people! Sister is no longer a trainwreck.

Sandra Bullock. another down to earth gal who's kick a$$. Anyone see her on Ellen? hilarious.

Rihanna. Bad ass. Awesome accent. The end.

Rachel McAdams. She's quirky, beautiful and I kind of love to hate her.

Kelly Osbourne. She had me at DWTS. Adorable.

Lauren Conrad . Ok, I know, some of you are thinking to yourself WTF freck, but I find her fascinating for some reason. She's had an interesting life that was perfectly set up for her to be dumb trainwreck (Speidi), but she's turned out well. Yes?

Mentionable ladies in 2009 who I'm NOT digging: Lilo, Britney (yeah, sorry), Kate Gosselin, Aubrey O'Day (gross).

Who are your fav celeb ladies of 2009?? Did I miss anyone??

Tomorrow's Friday! One more day!!
