Weekend Recap + Kim Kardashian + DIY

So this weekend was awesome.

Friday night I cleaned the crap out of my apartment - a usual Saturday morning task, but I was going to be gone all weekend so I wanted to get it over with.

Saturday, tbf and I got up bright and early to head south for the Illini homecoming game and tailgating with the fam. It was sooooo much fun. We lost, but my dream came true (everyone in the fam and friends left after halftime to meet up at the car and keep tailgating) I always get antsy after halftime. Especially at this game, we were losing and I could feel my face baking in the sun. I was so right because later that night I looked like the craziest raccoon. The right side of my face was so sunburnt except where my sunglasses were (think Kim Kardashian). So funny! Now my nose is exploding with freckles.


What kind of sun did tbf get? Oh just an adorable little sunburn on his nose and cheekbones. Lucky.

Anyway, brother freck had some serious tailgating gear with a nice tv in the back and a grill hooked to the back latch. Pretty intense and awesome. There were about 15 of us, a fun group, good times.


Good news. I have another DIY coming up!! Mama and papa freck are trying to sell the house and downsize to a smaller abode so we have a lot of older decor that I found in our old "playroom" welllllll I found two awesome oval mirrors that I want to refurbish and paint a glossy black. Pictures to come later in the week!

Another Smorgasbord Post...

I know I've been MIA. Let me explain...

After a nice, long holiday weekend, my mind was officially asleep at the start of the week and I was having issues getting back into work-mode. I’ve had to think twice about the simplest things…coffee is my BFF lately.

Holiday recap: TBF and I left Chicago after work Thursday and ran into some serious traffic downtown but then coasted on home to central Illinois from there. We made a pitstop in Champaign to make an exchange (no not drugs, but a makeup bag and contacts) with my sister-in-law. It was only a pitstop because it was her and my broski’s 4 year wedding anniversary. Her car had some gorgeous flowers in them…we Freck's have nice taste..

Anyway, we spent majority of the weekend on Papa Freck’s boat and then out on “the square” in my hometown with fam and friends to have a good time and say hello to some old friends. Even though it was overcast most of the weekend, it was still a great getaway and break from the fast paced city. It’s back to reality now though: early mornings, corporate 9-5 days and shoving in a workout here and there.

I’m getting really excited about moving in a couple weeks!! Correction: I’m dreading the actual move, but getting really excited about settling into a new place and decorating it. As some of you are aware, I have a lot of paintings to hang and decorate with so I’m hoping to find a creative and clean way to display them all. I still think this type of collage is the best idea:

The first picture displays a good strategy where they taped the same size paper as the pictures to show how it will look on the wall. Another strategy is to lay all the pictures on the floor before you hang them!

I like the idea of mixing letters and pictures into the mix…thoughts? I don't want it to look super duper busy. I want it to still look clean.. I still need to refurbish TBF’s dresser, where has time gone?!

My sunburn is slowly healing.

You know what I also love? Recently I had din din and drinks with H, and she told me about her favorite dry shampoo from Sephora. Meet my (and your) new love:

I used to use baby powder all the time, but it's difficult to get the white out of my blonde hair. I can't imagine how the brunettes do it! This stuff has gotten me through two days without washing my hair (sorry, tmi for those of you who shower every day, like one of TR's, but for people with weak hair like me, I can't wash it every day if I want it to be strong!!) I definitely recommend it or the powder version which is $19. Thanks, H!

An Ode to Anthropologie

I won't go into great detail about what I adore at Anthropologie right now (maybe later?) but for now, I will show you some items that I love love love!

I LOVE these earrings, they come in three different colors. I just love their shape and color, and the price is reasonable at $38! I'm normally not a fan of gold, but I think it adds a cute, fun vintage look to them.  Thoughts?

What a cute headband! The flower may be a little over the top, but I think it could be super cute with the right outfit. I doubt I'd ever pay $38 for a headband, but it sure is cute!

Update with the sunburn: aloe has been applied, and it seems like freckles are appearing by the second.

SouthSide Parade + Sunshine = Sunburn

I went to the SouthSide Parade today and was effing roasted by the sun I'm so BURNT. HOLY CRAP, it's official, I have a sunburn in March. 

I was wearing a V neck, short sleeve shirt while walking around so I have quite the farmers tan. I'm so pale, so I should have been more careful! After 3 or 4 days, the burn will disappear and I wont even have a tan...I'm English, Irish, Dutch and German...a deadly recipe for sunburns. How come I didn't get any sun when I was in Florida??

Should have used this...

I'm not ready to go back to school this week...
