If J.Crew says it's okay...is it??

J.Crew,

Let's chat.

What's the deal with the socks? How do you expect me to not laugh at the poor victim who walks into the office with socks, heels and bare legs?

See what I mean?

Aren't these trouser socks..?

Stop it, really?

Will you sport this trend?

I promise I will eat my words and even apologize if this trend catches on and people genuinely enjoy the look.

Happy hump day!

Weekend Recap + MAC Event

What an action packed weekend! Not really, but I felt like I did a lot :)

Friday TBF and I went here and ate SO much because it's SO good! We left feeling pretty awful though..eek. Saturday we went to the gym and then one of my girlfriends, H, and I went to...

the MAC event!

All in all it was fun.

We signed in, were given the color palettes for the spring line and then greeted with drinks and a model in an orange wig. There were a whole bunch of people crowded around the four color stations - gold, coral, pink and purple but overall there were far less people there than I thought there would be.

We were a little confused as to what to do, so we asked a cute pregnant MAC woman and she basically grabbed us and went to town on our faces. She was awesome. We weren't in the middle of the crowd either, in fact we took over a Nike shoe display table out of the way. It was great.

We walked out of the event with the same attitude - Meh. We loved the makeup, but we already have most of the colors she put on us. Her technique was awesome, I felt like I had the right amount of makeup on my eyes, lips and cheeks. Although I'm pretty good at applying my eye makeup, I can't really buy her professional technique. If only it were that easy... :)

It's all what you make of it. Even though we weren't blown away with the makeup or the event, we still had a great time. So glad H could come with me!

***

Yesterday was the SUPERBOWL! Go Saints! So glad they won. TBF and I went to an old friend's (it'd been wayyy too long) and we had a great time. Did I say Go Saints yet?! ;)

This weekend flew by. Hope everyone had a nice weekend!!

Happy Mondayyy!

Freck's Friday Fancies XXXV

**Before I begin this week's fancies, I wanted to let everyone know I slipped a note underneath emo boy's door that had literally what Jenn from Jean's Friday suggested in my comments yesterday. I didn't hear a peep from him all night :) Thanks!!! **

Onto the fancies!!

I'm going to the MAC event tomorrow and I don't have a clutch/cute purse!!?!

WHAT?!

Yes, it's true. So I need to get one! Naturally if I'm going to be spending a large amount of cash on goodies at the event, I don't want to spend a lot on this purse.

So where do I go? Uh..F21 of course!

You can probably guess what my fancies are this week... :)

If you haven't noticed, I really like the idea of having a strap. If there are going to be cocktails and makeup around, I'm going to want free hands...know what I'm sayin'?

TGIF!!

Have a great weekend!

The Noisy A-hole Who Lives In the Unit Above You...

...is apparently me.

Gasp! I know, I swear I'm quiet, but my neighbor downstairs
wants to break my legs dislikes me.

The uber emo kid, Matt, (who I’d like to note also plays his angry music so loud I suspect he'll need a hearing aid at 34) who lives below me wrote me a lovely letter a couple of months ago which was written to the tune of: pretty please stop wearing your heels, smiley face, smiley face, thanks! Smiley face - or something like that. – 8M

After hearing him bash the ceiling with what sounded like a broom stick numerous times yesterday morning, I had a funny feeling that I was going to get an angry letter again.

The note that I found slipped under my door after work yesterday reads:
If possible, please don't walk around with shoes/boots/etc. at 7:30-8am. I work till 4:30am and literally just get to sleep to be woken up. It's becoming a trend I want to break -8M

Break? Is that a threat?

Kidding.

What I imagine every time he bangs the ceiling...

He’s also come up to my apartment a separate time and pounded on my door (around 6:45 when I’m getting home from work) to let me know he’s recording so I should keep it down.
Areyouserious? Please tell me that the lyrics that I hear you screaming in your bathroom below mine are not being recorded.

No I really do think he's pissed, and I know some of you are saying to me, "hey a-hole, listen to him because I remember this one time I lived below a dumbface who wore heels all the time too and it sounded like the ceiling will break through"

OK, I know! I really really really have tried to become more aware of my movement in my apartment - which is around 6-10 pm, when he’s up and about and 7-8 am, when he’s apparently sleeping. In fact, the only time I wear shoes in my apartment is when I'm LITERALLY right about to leave for work in the morning. When Emo boy is going to sleep, I know.

Did I mention he plays his music ungodly loud? Oh I did, didn't I?

I'm not kidding its ridiculously loud.

So anyway, here will is my imaginary letter to him (suggestions/tweaks welcome):

Dear
dark, mysterious and uber Emo musician 8M –

My apologies about my noisy heels in the morning, I’ll try be EVEN more aware. (Yes, TBF and I say whoops, sorry Matt, every time we make a loud noise) Please note that the only time I wear my heels snow boots in the morning is when I’m walking three steps from my chair, where I put my shoes on, to the door, which is about 3 feet away. I’m sorry that my noise for one minute yesterday morning when I was about to leave my apartment awakened your odd ass hours of slumber. Have you thought about how you have the rest of the 8 hours that I’m gone during the day to sleep peacefully and I never really get a break from your blasting music?

Additionally, similar to how I should respect your odd ass hours of slumber, please respect mine and even when I’m awake as well. I understand you are pursuing a musical career, however I shouldn’t have to feel like I’m attending a screaming music concert before I go to bed at a normal time because your music is blasting. If I feel my bed vibrating, your volume level is probably too loud. Also, just because people aren’t sleeping in the middle of the day on the weekends doesn’t mean you have the right to turn up your volume to 10 notches. If I have to turn MY Gaga up because she’s being interrupted by your music, that’s probably too loud.

I pray for your ears.

Thanks and best of luck in all your musical endeavors,
9M

Again, suggestions and alterations are welcome.

Is it okay that I'm annoyed that I cannot move in my apartment at all without being concerned I'm messing up a recording or awakening the musical genius?

Ugh. End of rant.

Weekend Recap + Dear Groundhog, Please Don't See Your Shadow Tomorrow

First of all, holy shizzle Anthropologie has done it again. These outfits will come first and my recap is at the bottom. I can't help but list them before my weekend shmeekend recap, they're much more important. ;)

I sure hope the groundhog doesn't see his shadow tomorrow, I want Spring to come soon!

{All from Anthro}

Alright, now that that's out of the way, this weekend was nice and relaxing. TBF and I enjoyed a delish dinner here on Friday, gymmed it up and made some knock out wings on Saturday and cleaned like a maniac, made some more wings and enjoyed some lovely company with some neighbors while watching the Grammy's yesterday.

Can you tell we enjoyed the wings? Not gonna lie, they were kick ass.

Here is the recipe via Marcela Villadolid from Food Network's new show Mexican Made Easy. They're so easy and so yummy!!

Ingredients

Marinade:

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 tablespoons ground ancho chile* (or chipotle powder)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 pounds chicken drumettes

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a small saucepan, add the butter and melt over medium-low heat. Stir in the honey, and cook until the mixture bubbles, about 3 minutes. Remove from the heat, and stir in the vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, pecans, ground ancho and garlic powder. Season the marinade, to taste, with salt and pepper.

** Arrange the drumettes on a baking sheet, and brush each with the marinade. Bake until the chicken is cooked through, about 25 minutes. Baste once, halfway through baking time. Transfer to a serving platter and serve hot.

*Cook's Note: The ancho chile is a dried poblano chile. It is also sold as "pasilla" in the US. It is a deep red color, and the flavor ranges from mild to pungent. The rich, slightly fruit flavored ancho is the sweetest of the dried chiles. Anchos are often sold whole and can be stemmed, seeded then ground at home in a coffee or spice grinder. They can also be found at most supermarkets, Latin specialty markets or online.

**Cook's Note: Cover your baking sheet with tin foil for easy clean up and to prevent marinade from burning in the oven.

We did not include the garlic or pecans because neither of us are fans, and it was still so good!

Hope you had a great weekend!
