Hello Sandestin!!

TBF and I arrived last night after a BUMPY flight from the city. At one point, the plane dropped so suddenly that I threw my hand down intending to brace myself on the arm rest but instead I wacked the woman beside me.

Isn't this insane??? These people had to have been freaking out...

It's 65 and humid here, but it's FANTASTIC because it's not 30 and snowing :) Yay spring break : ) It's supposed to rain later so we'll probably do some outlet shopping.

I was tagged to play a game by Island Girl (Thanks, Island Girl!) and I promise I'll play when I have some more time.

Oh, before I forget...watch this interview with David and Victoria Beckham. I've always liked Victoria Beckham; she looks as if she's super stuck up, but she actually seems to be a very lovely personality. Check out these two, so cute :)

I may be a little slow with my posting...but I will be back.

For now, I'll leave you with some easy going Jack Johnson...

Distraction.

I have a meeting with my boss in a half hour regarding my future after my internship. My stomach is FLIPPING...so what's a girl to do? Why, turn to her blog and de-stress, of course!

So,
I'm on the hunt for the perfect trench coat people.

It's fuggin pouring out raining, spring is on its way. I have the boots, now it's time for the trench.

I have three options I'm looking at...

Super chic and classy. Love you MK.

Thoughts?

Onto my meeting..... : \

New Favorite Song, Lent & PoppaRoc

Drop everything you're doing,

and listen to this song.

I found that when I heard the song get faster (about halfway through),
I became absolutely obsessed with it I liked the song more. Thoughts? TBF made a mixed cd and this is one of the songs on it, number 15 to be exact.

Anyway.

I had Five Guys tonight with TBF to celebrate Fat Tuesday. Did anyone do anything for Fat Tuesday? Is anyone giving up anything for Lent? I decided I'm going to give up drinking during the week unless a celebratory day lands during the week. One of TR's told me I need to make the rules clear before Lent begins, will those are my rules. I can drink only on the weekends and during the week IF it's a celebratory day...aka birthday, anniversary, holiday, fraternity event (yes I am in a business fraternity, don't judge)...

I've been completely sober for the past 2 and a half weeks because of being in the hospital because of my appendix and then having the flu, so how hard can it be? I hope I don't eat my words.

Also, I must introduce everyone to this lady. Some friends of mine discovered this peculiar lady from Canada awhile ago, and well, she's just a hoot. I haven't followed her for a couple months now, but every month she faithfully appears in my subscription update email from YouTube. Her id name is PoppaRoc86. Form your opinions...let me know what you think :)

In this video...she points out everything that is silver...

Nighty night everyone :)

Tacky Dressers + Fun Sunglasses

Everyone’s blogs are on FIRE today and I love it! It’s kind of a slower day, so I have lots of time to read and comment. Hooray!

future Freck in SanDestin

So, apparently I need to start bringing my camera with me when I get lunch at work. This woman had on a washed out, super short, denim skirt suit with I’m not kidding black platform hooker peep toe stilettos with her big toe hanging out over the platform.. A major pet peeve of mine that grosses me out.. If her goal was to turn heads, by God she successfully did it. I was waiting behind her to grab some silverware and I was just watching the people take looks at this girl, what was she thinking? I totally lost my appetite.

This isn't even close to casual Friday...

So lately I’m digging my MAC lip gloss in “Nice Kitty”, my long cardigan from Forever 21 because it’s super cozy, long bangly necklaces, trouser jeans,

.............................and SUNGLASSES! I’ve been on the market for some new shades recently and I can’t seem to find the perfect pair. I'd like to bring a new pair with me to SanDestin, we'll see...for now I'll just browse. Here's what I've found so far...

Everyone seems to be rollin on the Beyonce train lately, maybe I will too, and maybe I'll like these so much I'll put a ring on them.
I couldn't resist..

These are kind of massive and mod. They're cute on her. Are massive sunglasses still in? I kind of like them as long as they don't make the person look like a bug.
I will forever love the retro look. So classy, so cute. So old school betty. :)

I could be like Kanye and rather than not being able to see the bright, sunshine, I'll see nothing at all. I'm already a bad driver (random fact: my nickname is two-foot __my last name here__ because I was taught to drive with two feet. Don't have your children learn how to drive at tiny high schools where the school is comprised of 350 people or else they'll be taught to (what I didn't really was dangerous until I came to college in the city) drive with two feet). Anyway.. Some people look really cute in these throw-back glasses. I however do not think I could pull the look off. For now I'll just look and not buy. While I really don't want to promote Angelina because of how I was rather annoyed with her behavior at the Oscars, but I A. cannot have a sunglasses post without including aviators, and I B. cannot resist posting this because I distinctly remember Angelina wearing these aviators in Mr. and Mrs. Smith and thinking to myself how awesome she looks in them. She really pulls them off. I had some sweet silver aviators for about a week then they broke because my mom sat on them. Thanks, mom. And I found this picture when I was looking for the aviator picture with Angelina in it...I couldn't help myself.....
Hi Brad. :)

ANYWAY!

So my search is on to find the perfect pair of sunglasses for SanDestin and yes I will probably settle on a cute, cheap pair from Target .

Happy Tuesday!

Five days til SanDestin!

I AM BACK..kinda.

I'm feeling MUCH better, but now I have quite a week with 2 exams and a paper due....then I off to SanDestin with TBF and the rents! I will be bringing my Mac with me to SanDestin, though, so I'll probably be blogging when I'm vaca! Especially since the weather is supposed to be rainy for the first two days that we're there! It's all good, I'm just happy for a little getaway :)

Today has been a giant study party with TR's, and we've established that our reward for our day of studying and being productive is to watch the OSCARS tonight! Woohoo, I basically want to watch Joan because she's a hoot and see everyone in their pretty dresses.

I mentioned Ellen in my last post, here's the video I was talking about. Go ahead and just scroll to around 3:40 to see the hilarity. I died laughing, definitely made me feel better when I was feeling sicky.

Oh, and the winner of the friendly painting competition with TBF is ME! Thanks for all your lovely comments : )

I'm thinking about incorporating this painting into my background somehow. I'm really not very good at making cool backgrounds though. I really like a clean look, so if anyone can help me with that, beeee myyy guest!

I painted this little guy, and TBF painted the super artsy, more rigid looking version of "freck." I am very proud of his painting skills, I never knew he could paint like that! The other painting he made was his version of the Across the Universe painting.

*Strawberries Fields Forever*

Not bad, I like it. He's pretty proud of it. His next painting is really cute, I'll definitely show that one off when he's done.

Alright, back to the books. Enjoy the Oscars, I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

2.20.2009

Oof, sick.

So, I went to bed last night with a huge stomach ache, then proceeded to wake up every two hours and get sick throughout the night. I missed my two morning classes today, which means my 82 year old law professor just might fail me...awessommeeee.

Ooohhh shee booo

I've come to a couple conclusions during my day of sickness.

Don't try to be productive when you're sick and feeling weak. Hello, this one should be obvious, but I thought I'd try to do laundry..well I did it and now I feel like I've run 3 miles.

Drink Gatorade. This also may sound obvious to some of you, but I'm not a huge fan of gatorade. One of TR's brought me back some and some chicken noodle soup, and I went straight for the gatorade and already I'm feeling a bit better.

Watch Ellen. I swear she made me feel a little better. Did any of you see her show today? Holy crap, she's just hilarious. She had 4 women come on stage, blindfolded them with wacky googly eyes on the blindfolds and had them play a game where Ellen would ask them a question about the Oscars and they would have to walk forward BLINDLY and grab an oscar the grouch to answer...this ended up being HILARIOUS because at one point all four woman were on the ground on their hands and knees looking for this oscar the grouch laying on the floor. She then called this woman who's obsessed with her to invite her to the show and the woman on the phone said "im gonna pee my pants"...Ellen: ok..

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!

Tag! I'm it!

So I took my exam and now I can get back to blogging!! Yayyyy!

CC over at TheTurquoiseHighway has tagged me so I have a little game-cheer to spread, but first I must give you all an inside sum sum with my bag.

Here are the rules:
1. Post a picture of the bag, purse, handbag, pocketbook [whatever you call it] that you are carrying. Now, don't you even think about going back there to your closet and getting your very favorite one or that cute little vintage clutch that you carried the last time you went out...I want to see the purse that you carried today!

2. Tell us how much it cost. Oh my, I know what you are thinking - a proper lady would never discuss matters of money, darling. Well, yes, but today we are gonna break that rule and tell. Yes, tell how much it cost. We won't judge. This is for entertainment purposes only.
And if there is a story that goes along with this purse, tell it.

3. Tag some other girls, and see how they haul around their daily essentials.

I received this red, Longchamp purse for Christmas, and I requested it so it was free for me (yay!!). I believe the price of it is around $175, though. I originally asked for the deep purple one, and my mom did get me a deep purple one, but it was the smaller size with shorter handles. So, 3 or 4 weeks later, I received my new Longchamp purse in a bigger size (like I wanted) and in red, rather than the deep purple. They sold out of the deep purple in the bigger size, but that's okay, I love the red. Perhaps my next Longchamp will be in purple.

I cannot express how happy I am that I got this bag. I've been the victim of broken straps twice  and dirty bags, and this has yet to do either. It looks almost like it did the day I received it in the mail in the pretty envelope. It stays on my shoulder very well because it has two straps, which is awesome, too. Oh! And talk about ROOMIE! This bag can fit everything and your grandmother inside, it's huge...which causes a bit of disorganization and a broken back on my part because I can stuff that baby. In the winter, when I'm shopping, I like to tie my scarf around the straps where they connect to the bag, it doubles for a pretty and dramatic bag accessory? haha.

Okay, so now I tag...

***Oh! And if you haven't voted for which painting you like more (two posts down) remember to do it!! :) Thanks!!***

Slight hiatus

Forgive me for my slight hiatus, but I have a business law exam on Wednesday. This will be a quick post... I'm taking a break from studying.

It's getting to the point where I've been studying for so long that I just want to get it over with and I don't even care what grade I get. I just wish I could study all the information like this...

This would be the perfect way to learn about contracts and bailments.

Anyway...

I'm really starting to dig sponge paintings. I KNOW, I KNOW...so 20th century...but the way I'm doing it is more more fun that bland pastels people...

I'm almost finished with one little ditty I've been working on, which is 4 seperate 10x10 sponged canvases, each with a different color (which is actually 4 or 5 similar colors sponged together). When I'm finished, I'll have an orange one, a purple one, a green one and a blue one. I'm looking forward to the finished project. It's a great way to take a study break... besides blogging of course...

I found this lovely picture when I searched for sponged paintings...check out the sassy little one on the bottom right...

Then when I was looking up paintings, I remembered these awesome sidewalk chalk drawings by Julian Beever. How cool are these? This man has some serious talent.

These are all done with sidewalk chalk on FLAT surfaces! Wowza!

Monday is over ladies and gentlemen... hooray! Now onto the rest of our week...

Oh! And make sure to comment and tell me which painting you like better on the post below this one!!! Thanks :)

A Special Post

This post is special because it's my FIFTIETH! I know this may not seem like a giant number, but I'm pretty happy about it and proud of myself :)

It's also special because I'm posting the Freck paintings that TBF and I created last night. I'm not going to tell you who did which one even though it's probably obvious who did each one, because we're having a friendly competition to see which painting everyone likes. I'm very impressed with his painting skills, I had no idea he was so awesome at it!

Anyway, here they are:

Comment and tell us which one you prefer!! :)

Cupid, draw back your bow...

I'm sitting here enjoying a glass of water and not wine even though I may break later and have a teeny glass and watching TBF make me bruschetta, salad and spaghetti. I mean come on my blog would be slightly effing pointless if I couldn't have a beverage every once in awhile..eh?

We just finished painting the background color of the paintings we're working on. I've never seen him paint anything before, but he's an amazing artist with a pen and paper so I'm looking forward to the finished product. He said he's going to paint me two pictures, one with a Valentines Day theme and one with my blog as a theme. He loves that I blog and have a whole world of blogging friends now. So fun. :)  I'll definitely be posting the painting that has my blog as the theme!

When I looked up pictures of spaghetti, I found this awesome image:

It's not really spaghetti, it's cake! Check out this guys blog that I stumbled upon. He makes some cool looking cakes. Make sure to check out the Tiffany's cake!

Oh, and I got these rain boots at Target this afternoon for $24.99. My first pair, I love them! I may wait a little while for the Nordstrom boots I was eyeing.

I'm siiiingin' in the rain....

I hope everyone is having a great Valentines Day!

By the way, at this point I've tried TBF's bruschetta, WOW! So good!

Happy Valentines Day my friends : )

I'm enjoying my morning with TBF and TR's and drinking some hazelnut DD. I'll be doing a little studying later and maybe making a nice spaghetti din din with TBF..I'm still watching what I eat though out of a teeny fear. Anyway, have a wonderful Valentine's Day everyone!

Also, thank you to everyone who commented about my last post. I'm feeling much better, all of your comments helped, they were all so sweet.

A is for Appendicitis

Holy cow. I went to the hospital yesterday for six hours and felt like I had a leash (the iv) and was bound there forever. Not fun.

Yesterday morning I woke up with a lot of pain in my lower right side, and when I got to work I proceeded to panic because I was reading about my appendix (where the pain was) and what the consequences are for waiting too long to go to the hospital to get it checked out if you're in pain. FATALITYYYY!! Scary right? I know, I was scared, too.

So I went to the hospital and had my first ER visit ever, and it totally didn't happen the way I envisioned my first ER experience to be. Cue Grey's Anatomy and beautiful people running around everywhere. Where's McDreamy?

Don't get me wrong, the people at Northwestern Hospital were lovely, but the ER waiting room wasn't packed and it was rather quiet...probably could have been because it was 8:00 am when I arrived.

Anyway, I follow the old, sweet volunteer man upstairs and am put in my own room (YAY!) and for the next six hours I'm injected with 4 bags of water, contrast and sulfate and had my blood taken through iv, and had a CT scan but before the CT scan I had to drink not one, but TWO barium berry smoothies. These barfy delightful beverages tasted like chunky, liquidy medicine. Yikes. I'm surprised I got both of them down, TBF was surprised, too.

The CT scan was scary but pretty cool. They injected me with contrast so they could see into my stomach. When the contrast was put into my iv I had a really warm sensation all over my body and my mouth tasted like metal. Such a weird experience, I shut my eyes and envisioned that the insides of my entire body were glowing.

creeeeppyyyyyyy

Anyway, I got all my tests back after a couple more hours of poking and injecting, and they all came back negative. By that point, I didn't want to say I was in ANY pain because I wanted to go home so bad and stop having my blood pressure and temperature taken.

I know I must say all of the tests were for a reason, so they could figure out what was wrong with me..but sheesh...it wasn't fun! I'm okay though and I had some serious pre-appendicitis symptoms and I should go back to the hospital as soon as I get that kind of pain again... and apparently I was super dehydrated...

OH, and I LOVE hospital socks. I was told they may cost a lot of money on the bill, but they were worth it. So comfy and non-slip on the bottom! Hoorayyyy!

Sweet pic, huh?

I was very lucky to have TBF be with me the entire time. I told him he should go to work because I didn't want him to take a sick day and I'd be okay, but instead he came right away and entertained me throughout the day with pictionary (they had a white board on the wall), games on his phone, and just enjoying each others company. Special thanks to TR's, too. They were texting me all day, making sure I was okay and to keep them updated. Love you girls :)

So, I'm taking it super easy today, I'm glad it's Friday!

Ok, maybe not relaxing THIS much, but it's a nice though, eh?

TGIF everyone!!!

Excuse My MIA-ness

I was in the hospital for 6 hours today.

Details come tomorrow.

I'm pooped, night ya'll.

Let the rain fall down...

It's pooooourrrrinnngggg in Chicago, friends. I think I smell like a wet dog.

I almost stepped outside this morning with just a hood on, and I didn't even think to go grab my umbrella because it's been so long since it's actually rained and not snowed. I decided I REALLY need to get some rain boots. I can't find the perfect pair though. The hunt is on.

These are also available at J. Crew for the same price!

I want to invest in a cute umbrella sometime, too. The only one I have right now is like $5.99 and from Target but it's awesome because it folds up so that it fits in my bag.

Check out the most expensive umbrella in the world:

$50,000!!!!
Holy.Cow.

I don't even like it......thoughts??

Speaking of H2O. I was told yesterday that plastic water bottles shouldn't be refilled AT ALL because it heightens your risk of getting cancer. Could someone confirm this for me please? I knew it wasn't good for you if you refilled it more than 3 or so times, but I'd never heard I'd get cancer. I refill all the time!! Oh dear...

Alrighty, stay dry everyone!!!

Later..I may post the painting I finished last night...we'll see...
