Jeggings...Thoughts?

What are your thoughts?

I was utterly opposed to these puppies as, I for one, hate the idea of leggings as pants. Leggings are not pants.

...but are jeggings pants?

I confess, I totally ordered 2 pairs of jeggings to try out.

Why did I get them? I'm so glad you asked! :D These appear to look like actual jeans with pockets and the idea of tucking them easily into...


...these precious darlings makes me super happy. Ideally I'll wear them with a longer top to cover my tooty and under boots. I don't think I'd ever wear them without boots.

Summer's Not Over Yet!

Okay so when I said I was ready for Fall, I experienced an immediate pang of guilt because I don't want to neglect the Summer trend's I'm SO going to miss!

For example...

cute A-line skirts (I may or may not have purchased this today..).

the adorable print, day dress.

the adorable light cardi.

unlike the cargo skinny cropped pants..the white, skinny cropped pant.

Ahh, that's better. The guilt is now gone :) Plus, thankfully the last few can transition nicely into Fall...mwuahaha!

A Fall Trend I Simply Cannot Participate In.

As you know from yesterday's post, I'm really looking forward to Fall. I was pleasantly surprised to see I'm not the only one! :)


However, when I saw Piperlime's latest email, I about died when I saw one of their idea's for next season's trend...

What's going on here?

Will you participate in this?

Am I missing something? I don't find this flattering..? I do love the skinny, cropped pant with heels, but the cargo pockets on the side kill me a little on the inside. Aren't we always going for a streamlined look down the leg? Yes?

Trendy Tuesday :: Florals

Let's talk florals. They're supposed to be one of the Spring 2010 trends.

I think I'm hesitant to dive into this trend because I'm pale and florals just don't "go" with my skin, I usually don't gravitate toward busy patterns (ever) and I haven't worn a floral top or dress since ohhhh, 5th grade when Espirit was cool.

The Noisy A-hole Who Lives In the Unit Above You...

...is apparently me.

Gasp! I know, I swear I'm quiet, but my neighbor downstairs wants to break my legs dislikes me.

The uber emo kid, Matt, (who I’d like to note also plays his angry music so loud I suspect he'll need a hearing aid at 34) who lives below me wrote me a lovely letter a couple of months ago which was written to the tune of: pretty please stop wearing your heels, smiley face, smiley face, thanks! Smiley face - or something like that. – 8M

After hearing him bash the ceiling with what sounded like a broom stick numerous times yesterday morning, I had a funny feeling that I was going to get an angry letter again.

The note that I found slipped under my door after work yesterday reads: If possible, please don't walk around with shoes/boots/etc. at 7:30-8am. I work till 4:30am and literally just get to sleep to be woken up. It's becoming a trend I want to break -8M

Break? Is that a threat?

Kidding.

What I imagine every time he bangs the ceiling...

He’s also come up to my apartment a separate time and pounded on my door (around 6:45 when I’m getting home from work) to let me know he’s recording so I should keep it down. Areyouserious? Please tell me that the lyrics that I hear you screaming in your bathroom below mine are not being recorded.

No I really do think he's pissed, and I know some of you are saying to me, "hey a-hole, listen to him because I remember this one time I lived below a dumbface who wore heels all the time too and it sounded like the ceiling will break through"

OK, I know! I really really really have tried to become more aware of my movement in my apartment - which is around 6-10 pm, when he’s up and about and 7-8 am, when he’s apparently sleeping. In fact, the only time I wear shoes in my apartment is when I'm LITERALLY right about to leave for work in the morning. When Emo boy is going to sleep, I know.

Did I mention he plays his music ungodly loud? Oh I did, didn't I?

I'm not kidding its ridiculously loud.

So anyway, here will is my imaginary letter to him (suggestions/tweaks welcome):

Dear dark, mysterious and uber Emo musician 8M –

My apologies about my noisy heels in the morning, I’ll try be EVEN more aware. (Yes, TBF and I say whoops, sorry Matt, every time we make a loud noise) Please note that the only time I wear my heels snow boots in the morning is when I’m walking three steps from my chair, where I put my shoes on, to the door, which is about 3 feet away. I’m sorry that my noise for one minute yesterday morning when I was about to leave my apartment awakened your odd ass hours of slumber. Have you thought about how you have the rest of the 8 hours that I’m gone during the day to sleep peacefully and I never really get a break from your blasting music?

Additionally, similar to how I should respect your odd ass hours of slumber, please respect mine and even when I’m awake as well. I understand you are pursuing a musical career, however I shouldn’t have to feel like I’m attending a screaming music concert before I go to bed at a normal time because your music is blasting. If I feel my bed vibrating, your volume level is probably too loud. Also, just because people aren’t sleeping in the middle of the day on the weekends doesn’t mean you have the right to turn up your volume to 10 notches. If I have to turn MY Gaga up because she’s being interrupted by your music, that’s probably too loud.

I pray for your ears.

Smorgasbord Thursday

So of course when I have my special boot outfit (boots + black sweater dress + black tights) all good to go last night, I couldn't wear it today because I woke up this morning to over a half foot of snow on the ground.

I wouldn't dare trudge through the wicked snow with those boots on.

Oh Chicago, you amaze me.

A kid across the row from me yesterday received a massive arrangement of fruit flowers. Fruit flowers rule. Delicious and nutritious.

I’m ready for a vacation.

Advice question numero dos of the week – where should I go that won’t break the bank for TBF and I? An all-inclusive vaca sounds incredible but I don’t really know where to look besides the basic sites (orbitz, southwest, etc.)

I could always win $25k like my old high school show choir teacher did. Isn’t he a hoot?

Rain, Lucky Mag & Fall Trends

It's raining again in the windy city.

Not cute.

Do any of you have any cute ways of traveling to work in the morning when its disgustingly rainy outside? I swear, there really is no cute way. I have my rain boots, but I no longer think they're cute, on me at least. We're in that awkward period where no one knows whether it's cool or not to wear fall clothes or summer clothes. After Labor Day weekend is it safe to say I can whip out my fall attire? Pretty please? The random Chicago weather will probably be the ultimate deciding factor.


Maybe I'm getting the major itch for fall clothes because I read Lucky's September issue last night and fell in love with 3/4 of the clothes in it. Has anyone read it yet? I'm usually not a fan because A. it's a pricey mag, and B. it's full of ads and expensive clothes I'd never purchase. However it was a great piece of closet revamp/shopping inspiration.

Big trends this fall...

• -multi-use scarves (scarf, blanket)
• -ruffles (on everything)
• -deep purples
• -big belts to cinch the waist
• -platform booties -pencil skirts
• -over-the-knee boots (doubt my athletic legs will partake in that one)

...I'm sure I'm missing some.. help!

Freck's Friday Fancies IV

I got an apartment yesterday!! It's a studio, but it is the biggest studio out of the friggen 8 that I viewed! It's in a trendy-ish location so I'm excited to start getting to know my new digs and decorate :) I think an Ikea trip is in store...don't judge, I just graduated and start my new job on June 22..

Before I get into FFF, can you believe RHofNJ's finale is TUESDAY?!?! What?! So sad...I'm really looking forward to seeing the scene with the restaurant table flip...

TBF drew a picture of me at work today...I must say, he's a very talented artist. I won't say whether or not its super accurate, but it's a pretty great drawing :) 

When I was in the hospital awhile ago, he got ahold of a dry-erase marker and started drawing everyone we knew, ohhh good times.
