I finally found the perfect frame for it! See?

Also, check out the Ransom vino {on the left}! TBF is really into Ransom gin {on the right} and when he found out they made wine he picked up a bottle! It is a delicious pinot noir, I highly recommend it, it was delicious!!

Altogether now! :D

It's Been Quite A Day...

It's been a difficult day at the office and I kinda wish I was toting this bad boy around the office this afternoon.

Thankfully I'm going to a Mexican restaurant known for their "killer margaritas" tonight with some of my favorite girlfriends.

Looking forward to some gabbing and dranking sipping.

Happy Thursday!

Wine Tasting + Balance

Holy goodness gracious.

Last night was a blast, TBF and I joined one of my good girlfriends at a wine tasting where her sister
works. It was my first wine tasting and I had such a good time. How could I not with good wine and good conversation with some of my favorite people? So.much.fun.

One of our conversation topics was about finding that “balance” in life with your 9-5, being able to go to the gym/spend time for yourself and have a social life. I struggle with this balance, I’m either all for one and not one for all.

Having said that, one of my new years resolutions is to live with no regrets, and I’m finding that I’m not passing up on opportunities like I used to because I feel like I would regret my decision if I turned the opportunity down.

couldn't pass this image up...too funny.

Along with this resolution comes balance because I’m getting a little bit of everything without even having to think about “the dreaded -- balance” I think this is where TBF described it as a cafeteria, picking up a little bit of everything. Variety.

Ya follow? I may be on my way (for now).

Did I mention I had fun last night?

My head is feeling a little fuzzy today, but I don’t regret it :)

Happy hump day!

Smorgasbord Thursday

A couple miscellaneous things...

Sounds like 2 or 3 magazine subscriptions are the way to go. Thanks for the advice :)

Also, don't worry, I haven't forgotten about the giveaway! I'm still trying to make up my mind!

I woke up this morning thinking it was Friday. I was very disappointed when I realized it was only Thursday and I only got about 5 1/2 hours of sleep. Awesome. Yes, I'm a baby and I can't fully function without at least 7 hours of sleep.
Is anyone watching Dancing With The Stars?? If so, how cute is Kelly Osbourne?! She tries so hard and looks great. She's lost weight, shes just so cute. Anyone with me on that one?

I would now like to share my easy and delicious go-to salsa chicken recipe. TBF and I have made this so many times now because it's so darn easy and delicious. You'll thank me.
  • Grab 2 boneless chicken breasts
  • Prep the oven to 375*
  • Prep the chicken (get rid of fat, maybe do a little meat tenderizing action)
  • Rub taco seasoning on both sides of the chicken breasts and place on lightly greased baking sheet
  • Cover chicken breasts with plenty of salsa, don't be shy, salsa isn't bad for you!
  • Bake for 20 minutes
  • Sprinkle mexican cheese blend over the chicken breasts
  • Bake for 5 more minutes
  • All done when the juices run clear!
*Super yummy with sour cream*

Totally spilled wine on my neutral fabric couch. Awesome. All fabric cleaners leave a ring. What's a Freck to do?

It's almost Friday!
Hooraayyy!!

Yes, I'm finally posting my rehabbed dresser.

YES! Finally! So below is the before picture of TBF's old dresser. Kind of blah, has a decal of one of his favorite bands from college on it.

And here is the after!

Ok, it's not that great of a picture...

I gave it two good coats of black spray paint and painted the knobs a greenish-pearl color with some bumpy texture. I should have taken a closer picture of the knobs..woops!

Onto the close up of the flower arrangement...

The vase is stuffed with wine corks and leaves to keep the arrangement in place and stacked on some of my favorite books. :)

Here's another picture of a smaller arrangement in my dressing room/walk in closet next to my vanity mirror, favorite perfume, Lanvin (I love love love it and it can be found at Nordies), little Terracotta warrior that I got in Xi'an China, favorite article at the moment (something about how to love your job and get ahead) and some Juicy Couture post-its (which was a gift, I'd never purchase JC post-its...).

Enjoy, It's almost Friday!!!

*By the way, thank you all for your nice comments yesterday! I was totally on auto-pilot all day because I couldn't stop thinking about it.

Some of you asked if I filed a police report and if I told the dad that his daughter was wearing her ipod while driving. I didn't file a report because the accident wasn't big enough and I really just wanted to get on the road to work, and I didn't tell the dad about his daughter wearing her ipod because honestly I was so flustered that I forgot, and plus he was so mean that I didn't even want to know what he would have done to his daughter!

Thanks again :) !!*

Freck's Flower Arrangment DIY..sorta

Sooo, I didn't get all the pictures loaded of my little DIY projects over the weekend, so the detailed post will have to be moved back to tomorrow or later in the week. Luckily, I have one picture of my DIY flower arrangement. I'm bummed I didn't take pictures of all of my steps while arranging, but hey I'll do my best and explain what I did anyway.

1. Purchase flowers of choice, I bought way too many than I actually needed. I realized less is more!
2. Figure out what you'd like for the base part of the vase to be. (Rocks, leaves, marbles, sand)
3. Figure out how tall/wide you'd like for your arrangement to be. (Tall and thin? Short and wide?)

My apologies about the blurry picture, it was taken with a crackberry!

So here is the finished products. I opted for a short and round shape and stuffed the bottom of the vase with wine corks and leaves. I thought they needed a teensy bit of height so I stacked up some of my favorite books to make the flowers a little taller.

If you'd like a close up of them, I can definitely post some pics! Just let me know! :)

Going along with home and product design...

One of my favorite sites has a book coming out!!!!! I will be one of the first to purchase, you can bet on that!

"Design*Sponge is a daily website dedicated to home and product design"..and I love it.

Happy Tuesday everyone!!

Ikea Love

Piper Jacquelyn reminded me that I forgot to tell you which rug I ended up getting from Ikea! I got the black, plain and shaggy Ikea rug for $49.99!!! It looks great and it was so cheap. Score.

Every time I walk into Ikea, I always want to buy this wine rack that can be mounted on a wall but I always resist.

How cool is it?! Plus, it's only $9.99.

Did anyone notice they changed their font? I think I notice these things because I'm in marketing and all about consistency. Can't decide if I like it yet or not..

Happy Hump Day!!!

J. Crew and Perfect Summer Nights

Loved all your comments about the BB Curve, I'm so in love with it. I've already tried brick breaker and my commute to and from work is a blur because I'm so locked in and focused on my teeny piece of amazingness in my hand.

I had a really lovely evening last night. I went out with two of my favorite people, one of my girlfriends that I haven't seen in awhile and TBF. After worky, TBF and I grabbed sushi real fast, then he went on his marry way to a political event he likes to attend every other Tuesday and I met up with one of my girlfriends where we split a bottle of wine on a patio of one of my favorite places and caught up. It was so nice to just chat with her and enjoy some wine on a gorgeous evening in Chicago. After that we met up with TBF (his event was finished) at a beer garden down the street where they got to do a little catching up which was a lot of fun. Ohhh, I'm hurting a bit today from the consumption but man, it was a good time.

Who's loving J. Crew's new fall arrivals? I HATE how they TEASE us with these new items when it's STILL summer!! Why do they do that?! I want

but PEOPLE, it's STILL summer. Why? :( Why?!

Twitter redesigned their page. Are they advertising now? I've been told I should get a Freck twitter...I'm considering it...

Happy hump day!!

Freck's Friday Fancies VII

One item I very much fancy are beautiful mornings in Chicago. Today is one of them. This city is beautiful.

This FFF is mostly decor and furniture because I've been searching for some inspiration for my new place...

Enjoy!

I'm looking for some green towels, nothing bright and crazy..more like a soft, calm green. I love Ralph Lauren towels, does anyone have any favorite towel brands?

Wine rack, attaches to wall, $9.99, Ikea

I'm thinking about putting these knobs on my refurbished, now black, dresser...

Anthropologie, $10 too princessy? I'm still thinking about it...opinions are welcome!

Conservatory chair, Anthropologie, $more than I can afford. This would look lovely in my closet, which I decided I want to pretty much be treated like a dressing room that I need a chair in...especially after seeing this chair..

Hello cute, massive rug that I also cannot afford. Do you have an inexpensive twin out there in the world? Anthropologie, $1,098

Now this I can do, Urban, $28

How presh is this knob?! Anthropologie, $10

That's all for now...

Have a lovely weekend!!!!

Holy Busy

HELLO!

I've been MIA. Here's a quick update:

I've been super busy with interviews and other activities.

I THINK I HAVE AN OFFER THOUGH!

cross your fingers...

Today is TBF and my ONE YEAR anniversary! Woop Woop! He sent me some awesome and unique flowers, and tonight we'll be dining at the restaurant where we had our first date. I picked out some wine that is special to us, but he doesn't know yet...

Now I'm finishing up my thank you's for the interviews.

OH, and you know the short film TBF and I did a little acting in? It's coming out and having a screening in two weeks, I'm nervous and excited!!! The short film TBF was in is FINALLY finished and will having a screening within the next month, too! Good news :)

More posts to come soon...

Wine, Pink, S&TC and blog update

I'm sitting in my apartment with wine, candles lit and Sex and The City on the tube...(before I forget..have any other blondes out there considered dying their hair dark brown like Carrie does in the movie?? She looks fantastic...and I thought it would be a great idea for about 5 minutes...then I remembered what a girl who cut my hair once said, "your personality is parallel to a blondes, not a brunette's.." Thaaaaanks..)

Why am I sitting at home alone on a Saturday night? TBF is at a political event and TR's are out and about so I'm home alone this evening...feels pretty good after a week at work and being busy in general.

I was pretty productive this evening. I finally sorted the memories box that TBF got me for my birthday and I finally completed the four canvases that I got A LONG time ago with different colored flowers. Feels good :)

Oh, I have had this song stuck in my head..

Pink's Funhouse.

How awesome is her body? It's kind of insane.
I saw in the RedEye the other day that she and the Ting Ting's are playing near Chicago soonish, and I was wondering how many closet Pink fans like me would be there.

So, I've been searching for some inspiration lately with what I'm going to do with my life post-grad...the only inspiration I have found (and now love) is this quote by Louis L'Amour:

"There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. Yet that will be the beginning."

*ALSO! I've been meaning to spruce up my blog a little. Should I change the background color? The title background? Add some more pics on the sides?? What is your favorite blog design??*

That's all! Have a great weekend!

Cake Decorating

How awesome would it be to be a cake decorator? In another life, I must have been a cake decorator or a painter. I think the coolest part of having a cake worthy event would be picking out the cake. There are some awesome ones out there!

I really admire all the people who are cake decorators. You're doing something you love. Do you think there are any CD (yep, abbreviated cake decorators) out there who have a degree from a business school and decided to change their career? Jeez, I'd love to do that. I may gain 20893 pounds, but hey I'd be working when I actually want to and I'd have time to go work out and burn off all those calories from the delicious icing.

I'm addicted to the Food Network's Ace of Cakes and all of the cake Challenges. This weekend there was a marathon of Disney cake Challenges and I couldn't unglue my tooshy from the couch. It was awesome.

How sweet are all of these?

Wrigley Field

I love sushi :)

Old school Nintendo.

Love shoes :)

So cool!

Mmmmmm Oreos :)

Who doesn't love Starbucks?

So realistic!

Love musicals.

So realistic!

Does anyone know of any cooking classes in Chicago? I'd love to do anything from sip some wine and watch someone decorate a cake right in front of me to getting up there myself and attempting to decorate and assemble a cool cake.

Happy hump day!
