Wedding Update I

Hooray for wedding planning! We're trying our hardest to plan as much as we can while we're here. So with that, work and planning our move, I'm finding very little time to post. Now that I have some time, I've had some requests to post a wedding update so here we have it!

Date finalized - It will be a June 2012 wedding at a Catholic church in Lincoln Park, and our reception is in a loft-like space about a mile north.

Colors {almost} set - We're leaning toward my favorite color, green, and TF's favorite color, navy, with a neutral gray and pops of bright colors in between.

Ring reset - Since the ring was TF's grandmother's, the setting was loose and I lost a couple of diamonds within the first week. After a couple of weeks (which felt like forever!) I had it back in it's new setting and I'm even more in love with it than I was.

My dress and my bridesmaids dresses
- I know what I want, I just can't find it. :) (By the way, those of you who have been through finding The Dress with your mother/sister/friends, did you have any problems? Did they have opinions about the dress you should wear and what you wanted? Please give me some advice here! :D )

Two little flower darlings
- My Godmother's adorable daughter and niece will be gracing the aisle's presence prior to my arrival. ;)

That's it for now! We're visiting Santa Monica this Wednesday with the only goal being to find an apartment once we move in late May. Wish us luck!!

Yay for updates! Love your color scheme.

I just went with my mom and sister dress shopping (I only needed one store, but that's who I planned to bring to the first few appointments I had scheduled and later canceled ha), and I think it helped to have very few opinions in the room. I think they pretty much would've supported whatever I wanted, but it was great having them there to help me decide! Honestly the process was way easier for me than I expected---bought the first dress I tried on! From many Say Yes to the Dress viewings and my own experience, I'd say only bring a couple of people. You can always invite more friends/mother-in-law, etc, to a future fitting! But, of course, do whatever feels best to you. Best of luck!

Love everything so far. Your ring is stunning. Regarding dress shopping- yes BIG TIME. I'm an only child and my mother never had a wedding so she has been living out her fantasies through me to some extent. She really wanted an over the top princess ballgown for me that was chock full of petticoats, lace, beading, and Lord knows what else on it for me. I didn't. She actually picked out a dress for me to try on when we were dress shopping. The only reason I didn't have to was because the consultant turned to her and went "that dress is $27,000." She changed her mind right then and there! Otherwise, I did try on a few dresses that my bridesmaids and my mother loved and I didn't feel comfortable in. I would say that's one of the biggest things to keep in mind. You're going to be wearing that dress for a long time that will be chock full of pictures, dancing, etc.

I found a dress i loved while shopping with my best friend. It was over $3000, so I decided against it for obvious reasons. Then I founf another that I LOVED! Took my mom to see it, and she wasn't very happy with it. she said she felt like it was bridal enough and acted really weird. Her best friend was with us, and I could tell felt so sorry for me. I went to another store with my mom, and I found another dress that she loved and I liked. I looked great init, but I still wish I'd just bought the one I liked from the second store. My advice is to buy exactly what you love, but don't spend thousands and thousands. You only wear it once. There is ot enough space here for me to tell the entire story of my dress, but i can sum it up by saying that I really wish I'd followed my heart. I regret that.
